Austin Green named district athletic supervisor

Austin GreenWith the departure of longtime District Athletic Director Shad Spilski, LCS announces plans for his replacement.

Austin Green, current Lapeer High School Dean of Students and Building Athletic Manager, will now assume the role of District Athletic Supervisor as of July 1, 2026.

Austin is a former Lapeer student-athlete, college football player and current varsity athletic coach. His career with Lapeer includes time as a dean of students at both Zemmer and LHS, athletic coaching, and weight room supervision responsibilities.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Sports Leadership from Grand Valley State University.

“I’ve been preparing my entire life for a professional opportunity like this. To be able to lead Lapeer athletics in my hometown is truly an honor and one I’m excited to begin,” said Green.

“Austin is a product of our ‘grow your own’ leadership philosophy,” said LCS Superintendent Matt Wandrie. “As a former Lapeer athlete and coach, no one is better prepared to assume this role than Austin. He knows what it will take to move our athletic program to the next level. Replacing Shad will certainly be a challenge, but Austin has our full confidence and support.”
