Lapeer Community Schools has announced that the district is going to a cashless procedure for entry into all home athletic events, both at the middle school and high school levels.
All tickets for athletic events will now be purchased online using GoFan, either at www.gofan.co or with the GoFan app. Cash will no longer be accepted as an option to pay the entry fee to gain entry into a home athletic event. Credit card readers will continue to be available at games in the event someone cannot gain access to the ticket online.
The app is available to be downloaded for free at the App Store and Google.
The change, which is being implemented immediately for all high school events, starting the first week of December, and the end of January for middle school sports, is being made to eliminate cash being collected at athletic events and to make entry into the events quicker and faster. The new procedure is also being implemented to minimize safety and security risks associated with large amounts of cash at sporting venues.
In addition, all MHSAA postseason contests already require spectators to use GoFan to purchase tickets for entry to the event.
Passes and punch cards will continue to be allowed as they are today.
Punch cards can be purchased in the LHS Athletic Office during office hours from 7am-3:30pm. Saginaw Valley League passes and LCS Gold Cards are still allowed. We will not be accepting any other passes, especially from other districts.
The LCS Gold Cards are only for Lapeer resident senior citizens. Gold cards are available to any LCS resident over the age of 60. Gold cards provide free entry into all home regular season LCS athletic events at all levels. Gold cards can be obtained by providing residency and age verification to the Administration and Services Center between the hours of 7:30am – 4:00pm.
This fall, Lapeer Schools has successfully used GoFan as a cashless option to obtain entry into home athletic events. Many of the neighboring schools we travel to for athletic events have already successfully transitioned fully to cashless entry and use GoFan exclusively. We believe with our successful trial in the fall, we are ready to make the switch.
